Why Chef Tech?

The mission of Chef Tech Academy is to effectively bridge the global learning gap in math, science and technology through our children’s passion for cooking. Our focus on the development of these key skills will prepare children to compete globally.

Inspired by observation

Chef Tech Academy was developed by Sidney Corum, Founder and CEO of Chef Ago Go and Greek Life Services, LLC, to fill a gap he observed in the education of our children. Sidney has over 25 years experience in the food industry, first as an account executive and then as an entrepreneur.

During several years of hiring and training employees from across the country, Sidney recognized a learning gap shared by those employees. While they had learned to cook, they were missing some basic building blocks in their development that interfered with their ability to be successful at the next level.

Creating the chefs of tomorrow

With the popularity of the Cooking Channel, Top Chef and other cooking shows, becoming a chef is an increasingly popular career choice. Chef Tech Academy was formed in 2010 to bridge the learning gap for children/youth who have an interest in cooking and becoming a chef.

– Chef Tech Academy was designed to use that spark of a child’s interest in cooking to help him or her develop a better foundation in math, science, technology and communication skills.

– Children attending Chef Tech Academy’s summer camp program learn the role that these academic and technical skills play in their development as chefs and as leaders in our communities.

What’s more, these children will be equipped with a better understanding of nutrition and the importance of physical exercise. They will be in a position to help their generation battle childhood obesity and diseases like diabetes. Chef Tech Campers will learn about organic vs. processed foods, farm-to-table concepts, gluten and other food allergies–and they will have FUN!

Exploring the world through a chef’s eyes

Chef Tech Academy’s curriculum builds on children’s fascination with making things and exposes them to a world beyond the classroom:
Where does our food come from? How do we use it to be healthy?
What are other components of good health, like exercise?
How does cooking/preparation of food affect its use by our bodies?

Your Chef Tech Campers will learn about food and how to prepare it for maximum taste and nutrition.
