Think you’re too old for summer camp? Not this one! We have a teen program just for you, kids from grades 6 – 12 who think they might like a career as a chef. This is the best place to get started!
Why is it called “Chef Tech Academy?”
Okay, tech – that’s about computers, right? Math and science, what’s that got to do with cooking?! Learning more about how technology, math, science, and communications will make you a better chef! Ever hear of food poisoning? Nutrition? What you eat can make you stronger and healthier, or … not.
Here’s something you may not have heard of yet: Farm to Table. It’s a catch-phrase in the cooking profession and something you definitely need to know about if you want to be a chef. You’ve been to the table. We’ll take you to the farm!– Focus on the basic and intermediate to senior food skills development.
– A week long residence camp – come and stay – have fun and learn.
– Work on daily menus and meals one-on-one with an Executive Chef.
– Incorporate math, science, and technology and their roles in the kitchen.
– Learn about sustainable farming and food production.
– Focus on nutrition and the importance of physical exercise in addition to meal planning and preparation.
– Explore career and college opportunities.
– Learn the basic principles of operating a food industry business.
